AWS from Amazon has said that 3 of its datacentres placed in UAE and Bahrain have been damaged in military strikes going on in West Asia. According to reports, Amazon has said that its datacentre in UAE was directly hit by a missile, while in Bahrain, its facilities were damaged by a drone strike close to its datacentre by the impact.

The reports said the fire from its damaged structures led to power stoppage. In the process of fire extinguishing act, water damaged the datacentres further.

Amazon has cautioned its customers that those who are using these facilities must back up their data as the restoration of services may take time, as also the migration of data from West Asia to other regions.

Iran has been launching missiles and drones against US bases and allies in West Asia, including in the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. On the other hand, Donald Trump has said that missile attacks in the region could last beyond four or five weeks, if necessary.

The Indian tech professionals using these datacentres would be best placed if they retained their data within Indian borders.
