More than 200 leaders from US companies and the United Nations gathered in New York City for the UN Global Compact Network USA Annual Summit, a UN General Assembly event dedicated to US private sector leadership in sustainability.
Building on 25 years of progress by the United Nations Global Compact (UN Global Compact), the Annual Summit has become a gathering for American business leaders. This year’s programme explored how shifting policy, evolving disclosure requirements; and the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact are shaping the future of business operations in the United States.
Panels, roundtables and keynote discussions provided insights into emerging trends, stakeholder expectations, and innovative strategies that drive business contributions to global sustainability. Critical themes included the 2030 Agenda, climate and environment, human rights and labor and partnerships to advance corporate impact and leadership.
Delivering the opening remarks, Amanda Gardiner, Executive Director of Network USA, underscored the significance of convening business leaders and stakeholders, affirming that, “it’s through these conversations, and by reflecting on the experiences we’ve shared, that we gain the insights that shape the future.”
The Summit featured a fireside chat with Sanda Ojiambo, CEO and Executive Director of the UN Global Compact; and Ann Tracy, Chief Sustainability Officer of Colgate-Palmolive and Chair of the UN Global Compact Network USA (Network USA) Board.
The discussion highlighted the role of US business in a rapidly changing global landscape, noting the influence American companies can have on driving progress across their supply chains.
Network USA’s Annual Summit serves as a trusted forum where businesses can openly share challenges and opportunities across industries, company sizes, and stages of their sustainability journey.
