Schneider Electric Accelerates Scope 3 Decarbonisation with Expanded Supply Chain Programmes and Industry Collaboration

From News Desk

Energy

Schneider Electric,a company in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, has announced a significant expansion of its global supply chain decarbonisation programmes during Climate Week NYC. As part of its long-standing commitment to net-zero value chains, Schneider Electric is deepening engagement with suppliers through an expanded suite of educational resources, regional market intelligence, and collaborative procurement pathways.

These enhancements are designed to accelerate Scope 3 decarbonisation by helping suppliers reduce their own Scope 1 (direct) and Scope 2 (energy-related) emissions, which are counted as Scope 3 emissions within their customers’ value chains. These tools and services, delivered at scale across entire supplier networks, offer a more comprehensive pathway to reducing upstream Scope 3 footprints, while empowering suppliers to advance their own sustainability journeys.

Scaling Impact Across Global Supply Chains

Schneider Electric’s supply chain decarbonisation programmes have now supported over 50 brands and engaged more than 2,700 supplier companies worldwide. Through these collective efforts, suppliers have procured 752,000 MWh of renewable electricity via Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs). In parallel, 19 companies participating in four multi-buyer power purchase agreement (PPA) cohorts have collectively secured over 1.3 TWh of renewable electricity.

As demand grows for scalable, cross-industry climate solutions, Schneider Electric continues to expand its suite of consortium models to accelerate collective action. Recent developments include –

  • Catalyse Scaling Global Collaboration for Renewable Access – Catalyse has grown from 7 to 9 sponsors in 2025, welcoming KLA; and is working to form new multi-buyer cohorts in the United States, Europe, Singapore, South Korea and Malaysia to increase renewable energy access worldwide.
  • Energise Building Momentum Across Sectors and Regions – Originally launched by the pharmaceutical sector, Energise has evolved into a broader healthcare industry initiative, now backed by 25 corporate sponsors. The addition of UnitedHealth Group, the largest health insurer in the United States, signals a growing sector-wide commitment to decarbonisation across the healthcare ecosystem. Teva and Sandoz have announced new power purchase agreements (PPAs) to address Scope 2 emissions, further demonstrating the programme’s impact.
  • Levi Strauss Launches LEAP to Advance Supply Chain Renewable Energy – Levi Strauss, the global leader company providing jeanswear, has partnered with Schneider Electric to launch the LS&Co Energy Accelerator Programme (LEAP), an initiative aimed at expanding access to renewable electricity for LS&Co’s supply chain, starting in India. The programme supports the company’s near-term goal of reducing supply chain emissions by 42% by 2030 (from a 2022 baseline) and aligns with its long-term ambition to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
  • pep+ REnew Cohort Delivers VPPA – PepsiCo’s REnew programme, in collaboration with Schneider Electric, successfully landed its first supplier/PepsiCo cohort agreement for a VPPA in the US and is now working to develop additional value chain cohorts in several other markets.

Deepening Educational Support for Scope 1 and Scope 2

To further empower suppliers, Schneider Electric is also expanding its technical training and educational offerings –

  • New Training to Tackle Scope 1 Emissions at the Source – New Scope 1 content, available through Zeigo Hub, now includes modules on greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting, science-based target setting, energy efficiency, electrification strategies; and circularity, all essential building blocks for reducing direct operational emissions.
  • Market Intelligence to Support Global Scope 2 Procurement – For Scope 2 decarbonisation, Schneider Electric is delivering deeper market-specific guidance on renewable electricity procurement. Newly launched Market Briefs offer actionable insights across key geographies, including Brazil, Mexico, Poland, Europe (AIB), the US, Canada, Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia, Korea, Vietnam, China, India, Singapore, the Philippines and Japan. Within this global landscape, the APAC region presents some of the most complex challenges and opportunities, as distinct regulatory frameworks and differing levels of market maturity require highly tailored renewable procurement strategies.

To ensure global accessibility, all content is supported by live education webinars that are now equipped with simultaneous translation in 60+ languages, enabling suppliers to participate in their native language through both audio and real-time captions.

“To decarbonise global supply chains at scale, we need more than commitments; we need collaboration, innovation; and practical tools tailored to regional realities,” said John Powers, VP Strategic Renewables, Schneider Electric. “This expansion reflects our belief that every supplier, in every geography, should have access to the insights and partnerships needed to accelerate their climate journey.”
