Greenmarket Energy, a rooftop solar subscription platform, has officially launched its services in Akshayanagar, Bangalore, giving residents there a new option for sustainable living. Pulse Energy Technologies runs the company, which aims to make clean and affordable energy available to households that do not have the space, budget, or desire to install their own solar panels.

Speaking to reporters, Akhil Jayaprakash, Director, Pulse Energy Technologies stated, “We are excited to expand our services to Akshayanagar, a community known for its environmentally conscious residents. Our mission is to remove barriers to rooftop solar adoption by allowing residents to subscribe to energy generated in their own community.”

Greenmarket Energy’s business model is based on solar power subscriptions. Rather than installing panels on their own roofs, residents can subscribe to electricity generated by solar panels installed on nearby buildings. The system utilises virtual net metering, which allows subscribers to receive credits on their electricity bills for the power generated.

According to the company, the service is both flexible and affordable. “With Greenmarket Energy, households can opt for a plan that fits their energy needs and budget, while enjoying transparent billing and discounted rates compared to traditional electricity tariffs,” says Jayaprakash.

The company positions itself as a facilitator for both rooftop owners and subscribers. For property owners with suitable rooftop space, Greenmarket Energy coordinates installation with approved vendors, handles net-metering setup, and manages excess electricity sharing with nearby subscribers. “Our peer-to-peer sharing model allows excess rooftop power to be used within the community instead of going to waste,” a spokesperson reported.

Akshayanagar’s inclusion in Greenmarket Energy’s coverage is part of a larger expansion across multiple Indian cities. The company is currently operating in several metropolitan areas and plans to expand rapidly as more residents seek sustainable energy options. “Our goal is to enable every Indian household to participate in the clean energy transition, regardless of their property type or location,” says Jayaprakash.

The service has been tailored to be as simple as possible. Interested residents can register online at the company’s website, select a solar subscription plan, and begin receiving virtual energy credits. The billing process is digital and the company offers ongoing support to ensure that subscribers receive the expected benefits.

Greenmarket Energy also focuses on long-term savings and environmental impact for households. “Our customers typically see a decrease in their monthly power bills while contributing to a cleaner grid. Every unit of solar power consumed reduces the demand for fossil fuel-based generation,” Jayaprakash added.

The launch occurs at a time when rising electricity costs and concerns about climate change are increasing interest in renewable energy solutions. Government policies that promote distributed solar generation and net metering have boosted private sector innovation in this area.
