Lawrence School, Sanawar is locate in Kasauli in Solan, Himachal. It’s located at a height of 1750 metres (5047 Feet) and is covered with Deodar forests. It is one of the most prestigious boarding schools in India. It has been a co-ed institution right since the beginning and is perhaps the oldest co-ed boarding school in the world. Children are admitted to the school at the age of nine or ten.

Sir Henry Lawrence decided to open a boarding school for the poor and orphan British children and on 15th April 1847 he opened this school. Raja Gulab Singh of Jammu and Kshmir was the largest donor to this school. Because it was originally eant for orphans, it was first called Lawrence Asylum. But as military training as its strong point right since the beginning, later its name was changed to Lawrene Royal Military School. Till today, the school offers a reduction in fees for the children of military families.

Sanawar has produced some famous people and the celebrities send their children to study there.
