In previous posts I have talked about the Indian Goddess of universal creation, primeval waters, war, hunting; and victory and power to the rulers; the Mesopotamian goddess of war; Persian goddess of war; the Greco-Roman goddesses of war, hunting, rulership, strategic victory and power. These goddesses also had the qualities of motherhood, protection and nourishment.
Neith was one of the most ancient and prominent Egyptian Goddesses She was the Goddess of war, hunting, universal creation and primeval waters. She was regarded as the mother of Sun God Ra.
Scholars are of the opinion that she was originally a goddess in Nubia, in the vicinity of Egypt. Over time, she became associated with the funerary rites.
Her worships date back to c3600–3350 BCE. The earliest depictions of her symbols have been found from her pre-dynastic period. Her main temple was at Sais in Lower Egypt and she had a major shine at Memphis.
