Barog in Himachal | Travel and Sightseeing

Barog is 60 kms from Chandigarh, near Solan in Himachal on the way to Simla, which is 65 kms away. It is located at 1560 metres or 5120 feet. The toy train, that is, metre gauge heritage train from Kalka to Simla stops at Barog and passengers have breakfast here. The railway line is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The main occupation of the local people of Barog is agriculture. The Lawrence School which was built during British period at Sanawar is nearby. Many celebrities send their children to study there.

The temperature of Barog remains cool during summer and is just above the snowfall climate during winters. Because of this, many people have their vacation homes at Barog.

Just before the Barog railway station, there is a 1144 metres long tunnel through which the train passes before stopping at Barog.

Although there are other modes of transport to Simla, travelling by the heritage train via Barog to Simla has its own charm.
