Tattapani is in Karsog, Mandi district, about 52 kms from Shimla. It is situated in a valley on the bank of Sutlej River at a height of 680 metres (2230 feet). You can reach here by driving from Simla.

There is river rafting available for most parts of the year, except the monsoon months.

Besides, there are many low cost home stays and restaurants where many travellers like to stay for a fey months. The quiet place, the scenic beauty and the proximity to Simla makes this an ideal home stay for a few months.

Tattapani has natural hot water spring which makes it an enjoyable place. In the hot water spring, there is a bathing spot where travellers can take a warm bath. However, the Sutlej River here has deep gorges inside the water which can drown even a bus. Hence its advisable to not descend into the river.

There is an old traditional temple of Mahu Nag on the opposite bank This shrine is sacred to the local people and is worth visiting.

There are also camping grounds in Tattapani.
