From News Desk

Lake Parashar is located in Mandi district of Himachal at a height of 2730 Metres (8956.69 Feet). It is situated on top of a mountain in a crevice, with peaks of mountain all around. A triple-shikhar (peak) pagoda style temple is situated on the bank of the lake. The temple was built in the 14th century by King Ban Sen. The temple and lake both are dedicated to the ancient sage Parashar.

In order to go there from Delhi, you can either go via Simla or via Chandigarh.

The temple is made with wood and stone. There are carvings on the outer walls of the temple, which are made of stone.

The lake is situated amidst the Dhauladhar range of the Himalayas and is close to the Kullu and Mandi districts of Himachal. While going up the mountain to see the lake, one can see a thin stream flowing down the slopes. There are also stepped slopes carved out for agriculture.

The villagers of Kullu and Mandi gather here three times a year to celebrate fairs. They bring along their local village deities to gather at the lake. They cook food, dance and sing at the fair. These fairs are called Kashi, Rishi Panchami and Sauranahuli.
