What Smart tech evolutions have happened in remote desktop management segment in last 1 year?
The last year saw critical evolutions in remote desktop management, shaped significantly by Indian organisational needs and the evolving threat landscape.
There was a significantly heightened focus across the board on enhancing security posture. A key driver for this has undoubtedly been the evolving regulatory landscape in India, including the readiness required for the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act, 2023 and the ongoing stringent demands from CERT-In directives, both pushing for stricter data handling and incident response capabilities.
This regulatory pressure significantly accelerated the practical implementation and strategic importance of Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) within Indian organisations managing remote access. The focus sharpened considerably during this period on moving decisively beyond traditional perimeter defence, making ZTNA adoption much more of a concrete reality. Organisations are actively demanding ZTNA solutions that inherently help them adhere to these pressing compliance norms.
Other key evolutions included improved User Experience (UX) via protocol efficiencies and unified workspaces simplifying access. Platform consolidation also gained significant traction, integrating VDI, ZTNA, MFA and thin client endpoints, to reduce complexity, enhance overall manageability, and integrate seamlessly with a broader range of identity providers (AD, LDAP, Azure AD etc.), VPNs, firewalls, network devices, and various endpoint operating systems. Finally, hybrid/multi-cloud flexibility became essential, allowing tailored deployments for performance, cost, and data localisation.
What are the challenges your clients face in using this tech? How do you help them?
Our clients face common issues like ensuring reliable connectivity and securely managing diverse endpoint devices. However, the most complex challenge is navigating the intricate compliance landscape. Failure to comply carries significant operational and reputational risk. This includes adhering to the Digital Personal Data Protection (DPDP) Act and maintaining governance control over organisational data at every level.
Concurrently, meeting strict CERT-In directives (like the 6-hour incident reporting / 180-day log retention mandates), fulfilling sector-specific or data localisation requirements, integrating legacy systems, and securing IT/OT convergence are major concerns. MSMEs often lack dedicated resources to implement these complex mandates effectively.
Accops helps organisations meet these compliance goals. Our integrated platform blends core Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) principles with robust Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) delivery and strong Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). These enable essential features like granular context-aware access policies, data consolidation and isolation, detailed immutable audit trails, and endpoint posture checks – tools assisting in strict compliance with regulatory guidelines. Flexible deployment models, including on-premise options for data localisation, provide secure, manageable solutions even for resource-constrained MSMEs, reflecting our deep understanding of India’s regulatory framework.
How fast is the adoption of remote/hybrid workspace growing with the MSMEs in India?
Adoption of remote and hybrid workspaces among Indian MSMEs has certainly accelerated significantly over the recent period. Key drivers for this segment include the urgent need for business continuity seen earlier, which has now evolved into sustained adoption motivated by the desire to access wider talent pools irrespective of location, increase operational flexibility, and achieve better cost efficiencies compared to expanding physical footprints.
Digital transformation initiatives within MSMEs are also pushing them towards modern, secure access solutions. The persistent need for stronger security and the influence of regulations like the DPDP Act are encouraging MSMEs to choose inherently secure and compliant solutions. We anticipate continued strong growth in adoption within the MSME sector specifically.
